The London School of Sports Massage was one of the first schools in the country to provide specialist training in Sports and Remedial Massage. Its predominantly hands-on syllabus covers a wide range of treatment techniques, but also requires in-depth study of topics such as anatomy and physiology, sports nutrition, remedial exercise, etc.
It remains a leader in the field of massage and has done much to pioneer what has now become a well-recognised discipline in modern healthcare.

The Institute for Sport and Remedial Massage goes several steps further in requiring its members to be competent in a wider range of modern techniques that include Muscle Energy technique, Soft Tissue Release, assisted Stretching etc..
Any school wishing its course to be approved and recognised by the ISRM needs to meet very strict criteria. Its students must prove their knowledge and expertise in written exams and practical tests.
